HMS Warrior Wedding Show

I had a lovely evening at the HMS Warrior wedding show last night. The table looked quite nice with the fairy lights, although they were difficult to put up.

It was nice to see so many exhibitors from cakes and flowers to magicians and entertainers, not forgetting photographers! :->

I also met three of this years wedding couples and had lots of enquiries for 2013, some for 2014! Now theres planning ahead!

I have set up a gallery of HMS Warrior photographs, you can see more here. Or visit my website www.paulmurphyphotography.co.uk.

French wedding photography

I have made a wedding booking this week with the lovely Abigail and Dermot.

They are getting married in Saintes, France this June. It is such a beautiful venue with three locations for photography. It is over a weekend.

I am also looking forward to the pre-wedding shoot either in the New Forest or at the beach… will post some portraits later. :->

Good times :->

50 Years of Sunday Times Magazine

Would you like to see images from the likes of Don McCullin, David Bailey or Terry O’Neill? I thought so!… then read on for more information.

I n February 1962, the Sunday Times launched the first colour magazine. “My God, this is going to be a disaster,” groaned Roy Thomson, the then owner of The Sunday Times. Newspapers in those days were dull dogs and the idea of putting a colourful magazine with a paper was seen as barmy.

Mark Boxer, the first editor of the Magazine, later recalled, “A curious truth soon emerged: readers liked it – so much so that about a quarter of a million new readers were attracted to the newspaper.”

Fifty years on, and much emulated, the Magazine is marking its half century with a free exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, showcasing the world class writing and photography which has defined the Magazine for five decades.

The exhibition, which opens on Tuesday 31 January and runs until Sunday 19 February, excluding February 11-14, will highlight the work of the world’s finest photographers for the Magazine, including Don McCullin, David Bailey, Eve Arnold, Snowdon, Terry O’Neill, Richard Avedon, Eugene Richards, Stuart Franklin and Sam Taylor-Wood.

The contribution made to the Magazine by renowned writers such as Ian Fleming, Martin Amis, Bruce Chatwin, Zoe Heller, James Fox and Nicholas Tomalin, will also be celebrated.

A special anniversary issue will be also published on February 5, which will feature articles by award-winning writers including Lynn Barber, Camilla Long, AA Gill, Tim Rayment and David James Smith, who have regularly produced first-class interviews, stunning reportage and high-impact exclusives for the Magazine.

The Sunday Times Magazine 50th Anniversary Exhibition, sponsored by Lexus, will be at the Saatchi Gallery, London from Tuesday, January 31, to Saturday, February 19. Entry is free. The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 6pm

A Winchester wedding photographers blog…

2011 was a very busy year to be a photographer in Winchester, Hampshire.

I love the city, with its Cathedral and gorgeous old buildings. There is so much scope to photograph weddings in the area. There are also some fantastic venues, like Lainston House for your wedding and Hotel Du Vin, Winchester.

Here is a very small selection of some weddings from last year taken in Southampton, Winchester and surrounding Hampshire.

My new lens Christmas prezzy :->

Hi, I hope the holiday season went well for you. Mine was very relaxing and I got a few presents too…!

I received a new lens, cool! I will probably not take it to any weddings this year, it is a bit cumbersome. It is also a little dated but it has an amazing trick up its sleeve….

I CAN DUNK MY BISCUITS IN IT!

My dunkin lens

So there you have it, a great way to use your old lens, coffee anyone? lol.

(no cameras were harmed in the making of this post)

Polaroid transfers

Here are a couple of polaroid transfers I produced today. One is an emulsion lift and the other is a dry transfer. They were not easy to produce for sure! Three images from one pack of polaroid.

They are from 35mm slides copied using a Vivitar slide copier. The images were taken at St Cyriacs Church, Lacock, Wiltshire. A magical village owned by the National Trust.

It is also the family home of Henry Fox-Talbot. Well worth a visit if you are a photographer, or not. :->
